I would like to express my sincere thanks for a very memorable visit to the Ufa Eye Research Institute and your conference. Since then I have met some Russian doctors and they, like many others, have confirmed the importance of this conference in Russia- it was extremely well organised, your staff so welcoming and for an overseas visitor like me (19 years since I was last in Russia!) a wonderful experience of your culture, the beautiful scenery of the region, and friendliness and openness of colleagues.

The Ural Eye and Medical Study is such a tribute to your determination and interest and the publications so far confirm it as one of the most important population-based studies. I do hope that if you are ever planning to be in the UK, that you contact me in advance and we can then arrange to meet and have you as a guest speaker.
